The health, safety, and wellbeing of our kids is always top of mind for us, but not always for our elected officials. Grades nationwide are low, test scores are poor, and it feels like education is broken. Children are glued to devices, addicted to social media and often depressed. Children nationwide, regardless of socioeconomic status, need to be much better protected and cared for by their government.
We must radically reform standardized testing, and ensure that all children have access to the same kind of education. Education has been, for too long, focused on short term information retention, without much room for true learning. This is not the fault of teachers, who in most places nationwide are underpaid and overworked. We must create an educational system that is focused on learning, and bringing out and harnessing the natural gifts that all children possess. We must be focused on helping the next generation be the best versions of themselves.
We must ensure that the food our kids eat at school is not only healthy, but free. No child deserves to go hungry. Ever.
We must protect orphaned children by putting regulations on the foster home system, ensuring that every child can grow up in a loving and nurturing environment.
