Strengthen Democracy and Elections.

A country which prides itself on freedom, should not be such a difficult place for people to vote. Whether it be the disenfranchising of folks who are lower income, or political shenanigans which aim to disenfranchise, we must make voting easy for everyone who is eligible to vote.
We must make Election day a federal holiday, as it would vastly increase the amount of folks who could vote by giving them the day off, as many people, particularly working class people, cannot always take off of work to vote.
We must automatically register every American citizen to vote once they turn 18, as independent voters, and send every 18 year old a federally mandated ID. This fixes the problem of states with voter ID laws, which are particularly disenfranchising in places where working class people may never need drivers licenses, or have the privilege of having a passport, restricting their right to vote. It also puts to bed the myth of noncitizens voting.
As stated previously, we must END Gerrymandering.
We must do something about the disappearance of local press, who are essential to a healthy democracy.
20 years ago, local press would have had the funding and resources to sniff out George Santos' act during his initial 2020 run, and we never would have dealt with that fiasco.
We must do more to fund local press.
